Making an account

Before you can use the relayr Cloud, you must create a user account through the Developer Dashboard. Your user account is your main point of access for viewing and managing your devices in the Dashboard. It also provides you with a personal authorization token, which is required in order to use the API.

Registration

To make a user account:

  1. Go to the relayr Developer Dashboard.
  2. In the bottom left corner, click Login.
    Login button
  3. You will be taken to the login screen. On this screen, you have the option to register for the Dashboard using your Google or GitHub account. Click the respective icon underneath the heading labeled With social account. You will be redirected to authenticate with your social account (after logging in) and prompted to grant relayr basic read-only access to your profile. The Dashboard only needs this access to populate your Dashboard account with your social name and email. For GitHub, click Authorize account on the following screen:
    Authorize GitHub
For Google, you can review the permissions by clicking on the information icons. Click Allow to grant access on the following screen:
    Authorize Google
Once you’ve authenticated with your social account, your relayr Developer Dashboard account will be created, and you will be logged in and redirected to the Dashboard.
  4. If you’d prefer not to use an identity provider account, then click the Create an account tab and fill in the required information:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Email
    • Password (must contain letters and numbers)
    • Company name
    • Industry area
      Create an account tab
  5. Click Create account.

A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you entered. Click the link in the email to confirm your account registration, and then you’ll be ready to start using the Cloud. Please be sure to check your spam folder if you don’t see the confirmation email in your inbox right away.

Important user credentials

Your relayr account provides you with two important credentials: a user ID and your personal authorization token. These are your credentials that let you authenticate with the API and authorize other people’s applications to use your data. You can find both of these under the Account section of the Developer Dashboard, as shown below:
